7 Ways to Eliminate Anxiety

Anxiety can effect even the most optimistic individuals.
I would consider myself one of those people who always tends to look on the bright side of things. I usually talk positive about everything I do, and I try to always talk positive about others- even if they may not always deserve it.
Having said that, I used to get very heavy anxiety issues! It would leave me nearly unable to get anything done, and I would sit in my room and vegetate for hours on end.
Over the years I have gotten better with extreme stress (the bad kind of stress, there is a difference). I don’t get anxiety issues over much of anything anymore, even things that deserve to be worried about
So here are some tips that I have picked up that may be able to help you manage unhealthy stress and anxiety. Remember, these work for me, and they may not work for you. I am confident, though, that if anyone takes the time to apply themselves- they will overcome their anxiety issues and live longer for it!
(NOTE: Please don’t mistake me for a doctor. If you are suffering from anxiety issues to the point of physical pain, feel free to try some of these tips out, but see a proper physician!)
1. Exercise.
No matter what issues I have bothering me, exercise always seems to take care of it. It’s a well known fact that getting active and working out releases feel-good chemicals in our brain that makes us happier and all around emotionally better. So if something is bothering you, walk it off- literally!
2. Vent it out.
There are times when a person truly has the right to yell, scream, rant, rave, and punch things. Unfortunately, most people take out their frustrations on friends, spouses, and even complete strangers that have little or nothing to do with the problem. So vent constructively. Find a place to get alone, and yell it out. Be as mad as you can be at a certain situation. Crying is another way of venting, and most people feel better after a good cry.
3. Spend time with loved ones.
Spending time with people you love allows you to take the focus off of yourself and into a group setting. I know when I’ve gone through tough situations, a good trip to friend’s house always took care of that in short order. Being with your spouse or a significant other is another way to forget your anxiety.
4. Begin helping other people.
This goes along with point #3. Go out and volunteer your time to help someone else. Or maybe you’ve got a friend or know somebody who needs support? Go ahead and do it! When you take the focus off of yourself and onto other people, your problems usually don’t seem so bad. On top of that, you get the satisfaction of knowing you’ve helped someone else overcome hardship. That is an anxiety reliever in and of itself.
5. Take care of the problem.
If the cause of your anxiety is under your control, get rid of it! If there is anything you can do to take care of it, do it. Make steps to get things done that nag you in the back of your mind. Focus on completing those annoying but necessary chores. I find if I complete the things I don’t want to do right away, I feel as if I have twice as much time as I did before.
6. Find someone who can help.
Perhaps your anxiety is from a cause completely outside of your reach. Maybe someone in your family has died? Do you have an illness of some sort? Find somebody who can help you. Find somebody who you can relate with, and they can relate with you. This is the opposite of helping others, it is getting help yourself. Don’t ever think that you aren’t important enough to get support from others. There are a lot of good people in this world who exist solely to make other people’s lives better.
7. Meditation.
I recommend meditation for a lot of things. Relieving stress is definitely one of them! While reflecting and communing with your inner self, you are better able to take stock of everything about your life. It really is amazing how many worlds meditation opens up to a person. So if you haven’t started already, begin making a meditation routine to alleviate your anxiety.
Get stress-free today!
These tips might not be possible or feasible for everybody. Like I said at the beginning of this article, if you have anxiety to the point of physical pain, see a professional. However, if you have manageable anxiety that you know can be taken care of, try implementing these tips. I find that I return to one of these things every time I have a huge stressor around my life. Eventually, it goes away, and I return to my happy positive self.
What’s great about it is that you can too!
